Books are not RED, they are reAd...

Hello friends!

DC is treating me very well so far. Aside from the rain we had today, of course. But a little rain suits. We got to take it easy and have a slow day. Watched a few movies. Ate some great food. Finished my book. Absolutely adore Lauren Willig. She thinks like I do... but then she also has lovely twists that I enjoy reading and characters that are simply delightful. She makes me laugh out loud. I don't do that when reading books. Do you? It is very rare for me at least. Then there's the Willig books. I laugh out loud constantly. I was trying to read snippets (sp?) of it to Kelly today. She even laughed at them. So, if you want to read 'em. I've got 'em.

Anywho... we are heading into the city tomorrow. Museums. Hot dog vendors. Lots of fancy art. We discussed the spy museum, though Kelly has already been there and done that. We might try the Renwick gallery. Sounds interesting at least. I'm sure I'll update once I'm home. I'm missing home!!!

Anything fun happening in the real world that I missed? So far the news I've seen has been about fathers murdering their children. I don't much like it. I don't like it at all.

Vampire Weekend is not RED, they are YELLOW

My synod interview has officially been scheduled. So, send prayers and such my way the morning of April 26th. What scares me more than the interview is the note at the bottom of the email I received notifying me of the interview date and time. It reads (and this is the LAST line of the e-mail): "Remain on the first floor lobby area and we'll find you in time for your interview!" Do you know how incredibly nervous that makes me? Let's not discuss. Robert's going with me, though, so I have moral support. Yay!

In other news, I need help planning a surprise party. I'm no good at it because I get all nervous when I lie. My good friends know when I'm lying. Maybe I look down. Maybe I pause too long. So for this surprise party, I have to come up with this whole other cover story and convince myself it is true before I even begin to talk to the person I'm surprising. Any hints? Help!!

So I know everyone and their brother has been blogging about Vampire Weekend, but let me just chime in and add that I adore them. They are reminiscent of the 60's and 70's with their light beats and peppy lyrics. I can't get enough of them. So if you haven't checked 'em out yet, I would recommend starting with Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa. I love a whole rash of them, however.

The Questions....

Just thought I'd share the questions I'm answering for the application. :)

1. Share the faith journey that has led you to pursue rostered leadership in the ELCA. (i.e. Who are you? What shaped you? Why are you doing this?)

2. Why be a leader in the Lutheran Church today?

3. What is a leader?

4. What type of leadership would you like to bring to the church?

5. What challenges/opportunities does this church face locally, nationally, and globally?

6. What brings you joy and how do you stay healthy?

Beginning of the Back Story

Okay, friends. Here it goes. The online journal to beat all (my) other online journals. Say no to livejournal. Say no to Xanga. Say no to Myspace and Facebook. Here is where it's at. At least, I hope so. This is my first go round. :)

BUT, it will hopefully be a way for you to keep up with me and my goings on as I finish out the remainder of my year off and head up to Chicago. Seminary and such. As of this very moment, I am heading north to Chicago in August to attend the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Three cheers for finally deciding where my life is heading!!! Woot. Woot. Woot.

In other news, I am working on an application for a scholarship they've offered me. I'd best go get to that. I should hear back May 1st on whether or not I've "won" that full tuition. I'll be sure to post and let you know, of course.

Until next time, I remain your red head...
